1947

Born to Eugene and Beverly in St. Paul, MN.

1963

Is a part-time factory worker and operations committee member at his father’s company until 1998.

1969

Earns a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the College of Saint Thomas and Saint Paul.

1972

Achieves a Master of Science in chemistry from Western Illinois University.

1974

Is a fellow and senior corporate scientist in the Research and Development Division at Ecolab until 2017.

1975

Obtains a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University.

1978

Attains a Master of Business Administration from the College of Saint Thomas and Saint Paul.

1998

Receives the patent for Ecolab Geosystem 9000, one of his 153 U.S. patents.

2001

Receives Industrial Innovation Awards from the American Chemical Society Central.

2005

Serves on the chemistry board of the Consumer Specialty Products Association, now the Household & Commercial Products Association, until 2017.

2017

Commences his retirement.
