1955

Born to Leonard W. Tomany and Joan Dolores (Schulz) Tomany in Chicago, Illinois.

1976

Serves as a deputy sheriff for the Will County Sheriff’s Police in Joliet, Indiana.

1977

Completes coursework with the Police Training Institute and the University of Illinois; also does so in 1978, 1988, and 1989.

1985

Serves as a state trooper with the Illinois State Police in Crestwood, Indiana, through 1987.

1985

Is awarded Two Department Commendations from Will County Sheriff’s Police.

1987

Serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Minooka Fire Department in Minooka, Indiana, through 1999.

1987

Serves as a state trooper with the Illinois State Police in Joliet, Indiana, through 2010.

1987

Works as an engineer, communications officer, lieutenant and assistant chief for the Minooka Fire Department in Illinois through 1999.

1989

Works as a consultant, vice president, and president of Mark A. Tomany, Limited, in Minooka and continues to serve in these roles.

1990

Receives the Director’s Medal of Honor from the Illinois State Police.

1995

Wins the Department Medal of Honor and the Department Commendation from the Illinois State Police.

Serves as a lieutenant and assistant chief of the Field Services Division within the Will County Emergency Management Agency.
