Earns a Master of Arts in religion with a focus on Biblical studies from Loma Linda University.

1984

Teaches as a religion instructor at Hong Kong Adventist College in China through 1987.

1988

Is a graduate analyst at Pacific Union College into 1995.

1995

Teaches as a professor of religion at Pacific Union College through 2005.

2002

Earns a joint PhD in ancient Near Eastern religions from the University of California Berkeley and the Graduate Theological Union.

2005

Serves as the president of the Adventist Society for Religious Studies.

2005

Teaches as a professor of Old Testament at Pacific Union College through 2020.

2009

Writes “No Longer Naked and Ashamed: Discovering That God Is Not an Abuser.”

2013

Is an Ordained Minister within the Seventh-day Adventist Church and maintains this role.
