1958

Earns an AS, Drum Major, from Wentworth Military Academy with zero demerits; Received Honor Graduate Award.

1961

Earns a BA in political science from the University of Missouri; Is president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Is a member of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade.

1962

Achieves an MS in Public Administration from the University of Missouri; Writes the thesis: 1948 Truman “Whistle Stop” campaign.

1962

Serves in the U.S. Army until 1964, 2nd lt. communication mess. and chapel officer in Korea and as an Aide to assistant division commander in Fort Riley, KS, 1st Infantry Div. as 1st Lt.

1964

Is a branch manager for the Rudy-Patrick Division of W.R. Grace Co. until 1968; Serves as president of the Mount Vernon, IL Chamber of Commerce.

1965

Marries Nancy Jane Abbott on September 4.

1968

Is president of Sho-Hawk Industries until 1972 with five Alfie Fish & Chips Franchise restaurants in Missouri & Kansas.

1972

Is vice president of commercial loans at Traders National Bank until 1979; Sits on the advis. board for the Univ. of Missouri, Extension until 1980.

1979

Is SVP of sales and marketing for Garney Construction Co. until 1995; Is president of Gold Coaters until 1989; Of KC Kings Professional Basketball Team.

1980

Is the chairman of the Clay County Industrial and Economics Development Corp. until 2003.

1985

Serves as president of the board of directors for Jo Dill Inc. and Dillingham Enterprises, Inc. and continues in the roles.

1991

Receives the Quality of Life Award from the Northland Chamber and Public Service Award from Central Missouri University.

1991

Is president of the Native Sons of Kansas City and receives the Outstanding KC Award in 2010; Is president of the Metro Community College Foundation.

1992

Receives a Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of American Heart of America Council; Eagle Scout, God & Country; HOA board member.

1993

Receives a Community Service Award from Park College and a National Distinguished Service Award from Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Serves as president of KC Area Alumni and serves on National Foundation of SAE.

Is named One of 100 Most Influential Kansas City Citizens by Ingrams Magazine; Receives a Harry S. Truman Scholarship Appreciation Plaque.

Is advisor director to the Boatmens Northland and Lake Northland Board United Missouri Bank until 2016.
