1931

Dr. Tamimi is born in Nablus, Palestine to Nimr Yusuf and Adla Abbas Tamimi.

1955

Dr. Tamimi immigrates to the United States.

1957

Dr. Tamimi receives a Bachelor of Science in general agriculture from Purdue University.

1959

Dr. Tamimi receives a Master of Science in soil chemistry and plant nutrition from New Mexico State University.

1963

Dr. Tamimi marries Siham Fareed Jayyusi Tamimi.

1963

Dr. Tamimi becomes an assistant soil scientist at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, Hawaii.

1964

Dr. Tamimi receives a Doctor of Philosophy in soil chemistry and plant physiology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

1970

Dr. Tamimi is promoted to associate soil scientist at the University of Hawaii.

1970

Dr. Tamimi serves as a visiting soil scientist at Purdue University.

1974

Dr. Tamimi is promoted to full soil scientist and professor in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

1978

Dr. Tamimi becomes a professor of soil science and Department Head at the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan.

1980

Dr. Tamimi begins farming on five acres of a family farm.

1985

Dr. Tamimi serves as senior soil scientist at Washington State University for the United States Agency for International Development.

1988

Dr. Tamimi serves as a senior consultant for the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture at the National Center for Agricultural Research and Technology Transfer.

1989

Dr. Tamimi is an elected member of the faculty senate of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

1990

Dr. Tamimi is appointed vice president of the Hilo County Farm Bureau Federation (now Hawaii Farm Bureau) in Hilo, Hawaii.

1991

Dr. Tamimi serves as a soil specialist at the College of tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

1993

Dr. Tamimi receives a grant from the Governor’s Agriculture Coordinator Committee.

1995

Dr. Tamimi is appointed president of the Hilo County Farm Bureau Federation.

1996

Dr. Tamimi earns the title of Emeritus Professor of Soil Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
