Dr. Buchin is born in New York, New York to K. Buchin and Bertha Buchin.

1952

Dr. Buchin receives a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Tau Beta Pi member.

1952

Dr. Buchin joins the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps.

1956

Dr. Buchin receives a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from Harvard University as a George F. Baker Scholar.

1956

Dr. Buchin serves as assistant to treasurer at Bay State Abrasives.

1957

Dr. Buchin marries Jacqueline Thurber Chase.

1958

Dr. Buchin serves as a research assistant at Harvard Business School.

1960

Dr. Buchin becomes an instructor at Harvard Business School.

1962

Dr. Buchin receives a Doctor of Business Administration from Harvard University.

1962

Dr. Buchin is promoted to assistant professor at Harvard Business School and is named an IBM Fellow at Harvard University.

1965

Dr. Buchin is promoted to associate professor at Harvard Business School.

1969

Dr. Buchin founds Applied Decision Systems, where he serves as president and management consultant.

1978

Dr. Buchin serves as senior vice president and management consultant of Temple, Barker & Sloane, Inc. (now Oliver Wyman).

1991

Dr. Buchin serves as a visiting lecturer at Templeton College at Oxford University and principal of the Arthur D. Little.

1993

Dr. Buchin becomes president of Boston-Bermuda Cruising and a professor at the Arthur D. Little School of Management (now Hult International Business School).

1997

Dr. Buchin becomes an associate professor at Boston University.

2012

Dr. Buchin is promoted to professor of the practice and school faculty chair at Boston University.

2014

Dr. Buchin is named professor of the practice emeritus at Boston University.

2014

Dr. Buchin joins the Hospitality Industry Advisory Board and becomes an adjunct lecturer at Lasell College.

2017

Dr. Buchin is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
