1965

Ms. Britton receives a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University Chicago) in River Forest, Illinois.

1966

Ms. Britton becomes a fifth grade teacher in the School District of Pickens County, South Carolina.

1969

Ms. Britton serves as a second and fifth grade teacher in Manhattan City Schools in Manhattan, Kansas.

1978

Ms. Britton receives a Master of Science with Reading Instruction Emphasis from Kansas State University.

1980

Ms. Britton receives the Helping Hands Award for Volunteer Service from the Seventh Corps of the U.S. Army, Europe.

1982

Ms. Britton becomes a Chapter I reading teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg, Virginia.

1986

Ms. Britton is appointed Director of Turkey Creek Junior High School Reading Laboratory; Plant City, Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida.

1991

Ms. Britton is named Teacher of the Year for Turkey Creek Junior High School, Plant City, Florida.

1994

Ms. Britton, after serving as an adjunct instructor, becomes a Full-Time Instructor and Department Head/Chair at Cochise Community College, Douglas Campus in Arizona.

1997

Ms. Britton is recognized for Excellence in Education by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD).

1999

Ms. Britton is named Outstanding Instructor by Cochise Community College students.

2002

Ms. Britton is appointed Chair (volunteer) of the Governor’s Commission for Service Learning and Volunteerism.

2005

Ms. Britton receives an International Exemplary Leaders Award from the Chair Academy.

2010

Ms. Britton is appointed Philanthropy Committee chair (volunteer) of the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona.

2010

Ms. Britton serves as the Governance chair (volunteer) of the Cochise County Education Foundation.

2012

Ms. Britton becomes the Secretary (volunteer) of the Board of Directors of the Legacy Foundation.

2012

Ms. Britton is appointed Faculty Emeritus at Cochise Community College.

2015

Ms. Britton receives the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award – Lifetime Service – for the state of Arizona.

2017

Ms. Britton is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

2017

Ms. Britton is inducted into the Hall of Fame at Cochise Community College.
