Becomes a resident in internal medicine at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

1971

Serves with the U.S. Navy for two years.

1973

Becomes a resident in neurology at Emory Hospital.

1977

Ventures into private practice medicine specializing in neurology in Marietta, Georgia.

Becomes a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Emory University College of Medicine.
