Born to Polykarpos Dimitri and Constantoula P. (Konstantinopoulos) Syropoulos in Kato Hora, Nafpaktos, Greece.

1951

Immigrates to the United States.

1956

Serves in the U.S. Army until 1958.

1960

Earns a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University; Teaches at Detroit Public Schools until 1966.

1963

Marries Sandra Francis Flick on August 19.

1965

Achieves a Master of Education from Wayne State University.

1966

Serves Detroit Public Schools as department head, supervisor, research assistant and program associate through 1997.

1966

Serves as a part-time instructor for the College of Education at Wayne State University until 1974.

1971

Obtains a Doctor of Education from Wayne State University.

1974

Is an assistant director at Wayne County Intermediate School until 1976.

1988

Is president of St. John Greek Orthodox Church in Sterling Heights, MI until 1989.

1997

Is president of Research & Evaluation Specialists Inc. (Syropoulos Edu. Co.) through today; Is a charter school cons. for Central Michigan Univ. until 2004.

2000

Serves on the board of directors of the University of Michigan’s Modern Greek Studies until 2002.

2001

Is external vice president of the Hellenic Society Paideia of Michigan until 2005.

Is chairman of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association until 2007.

Is appointed to the Hellenic Cultural Commission Board of Visitors at Wayne State University Liberal Arts College until 2005.

2004

Is an academic achievement consultant for the Wayne RESA Inst. School District until 2008.

2006

Is principal coach of the Michigan Department of Education until 2010.

Is a school improvement plan consultant for the Michigan Department of Education until retiring in 2017.

2015

Receives the Hellenic Heritage Award from the Greek Community of Michigan and a Life Achievement Award from Michigan State and Federal Projects.
