1944

Ms. O’Leary is born in Chicago, Illinois to John Jeremiah and Ruth O’Leary.

1963

Ms. O’Leary receives a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Villanova University and begins her career as a staff nurse at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

1964

Ms. O’Leary becomes coordinator of in-patient child psychiatry at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital.

1968

Ms. O’Leary serves as assistant head nurse at the Veteran’s Research Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

1970

Ms. O’Leary becomes instructor of the Cooperative Health Occupations Assistants program through the Chicago Board of Education.

1972

Ms. O’Leary serves as a teacher of the Nurse Child Parent Center program with the Chicago Board of Education.

1974

Ms. O’Leary studies postgraduate work at the National College of Education.

1975

Ms. O’Leary serves as a clinical nursing consultant in the department of nursing at the University of Illinois Hospital.

1979

Ms. O’Leary earns a master’s degree in health professions education from the University of Illinois, and serves as chairperson of the continuing education committee of the National Intravenous Therapy Association.

1980

Ms. O’Leary becomes director of nursing education, evaluation, and research at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

1986

Ms. O’Leary serves as chairman of the program committee of the Illinois League of Nursing.

1988

Ms. O’Leary becomes the director of psychiatry and respite care in nursing, and administrative director of the department of psychiatry at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center.

1989

Ms. O’Leary becomes director if psychiatric services at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center.

1996

Ms. O’Leary becomes a Janseen Clinical Scholar with Ninth Annual U.S. Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress in San Diego, California.

1999

Ms. O’Leary joins Grant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois as vice president of clinical services.

2002

Ms. O’Leary serves as patient care director at the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California.

2005

Ms. O’Leary becomes a consultant with Ascellon Corporation in Landover, Maryland.

2006

Ms. O’Leary joins St. Helena Hospital in California as chief nursing officer.

2011

Ms. O’Leary becomes a patient advocate with Good Medicine Consult and Advocacy in San Francisco, California.

2013

Ms. O’Leary becomes a patient advocate at St. Helena Hospital.
