Dr. Wilson is born in Michigan to Bert and Frances Fern McCarty.

1953

Dr. Wilson receives a diploma in nursing from Bronson Methodist School of Nursing in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

1953

Dr. Wilson becomes a staff nurse at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

1954

Dr. Wilson becomes a staff nurse at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh, Michigan.

1969

Dr. Wilson receives a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Siena Heights College.

1972

Dr. Wilson receives a Master of Science from the University of Michigan.

1972

Dr. Wilson becomes an assistant professor of nursing at the University of Michigan.

1978

Dr. Wilson becomes an assistant professor of nursing at Wayne State University.

1979

Dr. Wilson receives the Book of the Year Award from the American Journal of Nursing.

1985

Dr. Wilson receives a Doctor of Philosophy from Wayne State University.

1986

Dr. Wilson becomes an associate professor of nursing in the School of Nursing at Oakland University.

1989

Dr. Wilson becomes a full professor of nursing at Eastern Michigan University.
