Dr. Edwards is born in Tyler, Texas to Welby Clell and Davida Edwards.

1974

Dr. Edwards graduates cum laude from Tyler Junior College, receiving an Associate of Arts.

1976

Dr. Edwards receives a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University, and serves as vice president of W.C. Square, Inc. shopping center.

1977

Dr. Edwards serves as executive vice president of W.C. Supply Co. in Tyler, Texas.

1978

Dr. Edwards becomes president and owner of Walker Auto Spring, Inc. in Shreveport, Louisiana.

1984

Dr. Edwards becomes president and owner of Edwards & Associates, Inc.

1988

Dr. Edwards becomes chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Pruitt Co. Inc. in Houston, Texas.

1991

Dr. Edwards becomes board chairman and chief executive officer of Odessa Spring Brake & Axle, Inc. in Odessa, Texas.

1991

Dr. Edwards becomes general partner of ESE Properties in Tyler, Texas. He also serves three terms as president of the East Texas State Fair until 1994.

1992

Dr. Edwards becomes managing partner of Heritage Drive Plaza Office Suites.

1992

Dr. Edwards becomes president and owner of Shreveport Spring Brake & Axle, Inc. in Shreveport, Louisiana.

2001

Dr. Edwards becomes vice president of CountryMedic, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas.

2009

Dr. Edwards receives the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Baylor University Alumni Association.

2013

Dr. Edwards is honored with the Patron of Excellence Award from the Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras.

2015

Dr. Edwards is elected president of the East Texas Symphony Orchestra Foundation.

2016

Dr. Edwards receives a doctorate in humanities from East Texas Baptist University and serves as adviser to Baylor University libraries.

2017

Dr. Edwards receives the Crystal Dove of Peace Award from Rotary International and is recognized as a Major Donor.

2017

Dr. Edwards becomes development board chair of The University of Texas at Tyler and he receives the Founders Medal from East Texas Baptist University.

2017

Dr. Edwards is named a Distinguished Humanitarian by Marquis Who’s Who.

2019

Dr. Edwards is honored by the National Philanthropy Group with the Philanthropist of the Year Award.
