Dr. Hildebrand is born in Astoria, Oregon to Frank Frederick Theodore and Irma Amelia Hildebrand.

Dr. Hildebrand studies at Northern Idaho Junior College.

1953

Dr. Hildebrand receives a Bachelor of Science from Washington State University.

1953

Dr. Hildebrand serves in the U.S. Navy for three years as an air intelligence officer, earning the rank of lieutenant (junior grade).

1962

Dr. Hildebrand receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California Berkeley.

1962

Dr. Hildebrand embarks on a three-decade long career as a plant pathologist at the University of California Berkeley.

1967

Dr. Hildebrand receives the Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health.

1968

Dr. Hildebrand serves as an associate editor of the Annual Review of Phytopathology.
