Born to William M. Nelis Jr. and Rosemary (Luken) Nelis in Evergreen Park, IL.

1964

Earns a Bachelor of Science from Loyola University in Chicago.

1979

Is the director of the Business and Industry Training Center at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL, until her retirement in 2004.

1983

Serves as president of the Dukane Council in Geneva, IL, through 1989.

1984

Is the chair of the Women’s Council of the Elgin Chamber of Commerce through 1985.

1985

Serves as a councilwoman for the City of Elgin two times through 1993.

1986

Is a member of the board of directors of the St. Edward High School Foundation through 993.

1988

Is named Political Leader of the Year by the Association for Individual Development.

1990

Is a member of the board of the Pads of Elgin through 1994.

1990

Serves as the president of the United Way of Elgin and presently maintains this role.
