1947

Dr. MacManus is born in Tampa, Florida to Harold Cameron and Elizabeth MacManus.

1968

Dr. MacManus graduates cum laude with honors from Florida State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in government.

1969

Dr. MacManus receives a Master of Arts in political science from the University of Michigan.

1969

Dr. MacManus becomes an instructor at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida.

1973

Dr MacManus becomes a research assistant at Florida State University.

1975

Dr. MacManus receives a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Florida State University.

1975

Dr. MacManus becomes an assistant professor of political science at the University of Houston.

1979

Dr. MacManus is promoted to associate professor of political science at the University of Houston.

1982

Dr. MacManus becomes a research associate at the Center for Public Policy.

1983

Dr. MacManus is appointed director of the MPA program at the University of Houston.

1984

Dr. MacManus becomes director of the PhD program at Cleveland State University.

1987

Dr. MacManus becomes a professor of public administration and political science at the University of South Florida.

1990

Dr. MacManus is appointed chair of the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of South Florida.

1994

Dr. MacManus joins the executive council of the American Political Science Association (APSA).

1996

Dr. MacManus becomes a professor of Training Faculty of the Aging Studies in the PhD program at the University of South Florida.

1999

Dr. MacManus is named Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of South Florida.

2009

Dr. MacManus becomes co-editor of the University Press of Florida series on Florida government and politics.

2014

Dr. MacManus is appointed director of the USF-Nielsen Sunshine State Survey at the University of South Florida.

2017

Dr. MacManus is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

2017

Dr. MacManus authors “Florida’s Minority Trailblazers: The Men and Women Who Changes the Face of Government.”
