1923

Dr. Klausner is born in Brooklyn, New York to Edward and Bertha Klausner.

1943

Dr. Klausner becomes a Second Lieutenant and an Air Navigator in the United States Army Air Corps (now United States Army Air Forces).

1947

Dr. Klausner receives a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from New York University.

1951

Dr. Klausner receives a Master of Arts from psychology from Columbia University and serves as a lecturer of education at the City College of New York.

1952

Dr. Klausner receives a Doctor of Education in psychology from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University and serves as an instructor of psychology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.

1957

Dr. Klausner becomes a lecturer of sociology at Columbia University.

1961

Dr. Klausner becomes a lecturer of religion and psychiatry at the Union Theological Seminary.

1963

Dr. Klausner receives a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology from Columbia University.

1967

Dr. Klausner becomes an associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.

1969

Dr. Klausner is appointed chairman of the Social Science Section of the American Academy of Religion.

1970

Dr. Klausner is promoted to full professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

1971

Dr. Klausner is appointed director of the Center for Research on the Acts of Man.

1971

Dr. Klausner authors “On Man in His Environment” and “Religion in the United States.”

1977

Dr. Klausner is appointed chairman for undergraduate studies in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.

1982

Dr. Klausner authors “Eskimo Capitalists: Oil, Politics and Alcohol.”

1983

Dr. Klausner is appointed chairman of the Graduate Group in Sociology.

1989

Dr. Klausner authors “Succeeding in Corporate America: The Experience of Jewish MBAs.”

1991

Dr. Klausner receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for the Social Scientific Study of Jewry.

1996

Dr. Klausner retires and is named Professor Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania.

1998

Dr. Klausner is listed in the Encyclopedia of Religion and Society.
