Born in Toledo, Ohio to John Michael and Kathryn Marie Savage.

1959

Received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo.

1959

Becomes Executive vice president of Savage & Associates, Inc., Toledo, Ohio.

1962

Elected to the nine member Toledo City Council at age 25; still youngest ever elected.

1964

Elected to Toledo City Council, top vote getter.

1965

Named Toledo, Ohio “Outstanding Young Man of the Year.”

1966

Married Susan M. Savage

1966

Elected vice mayor City of Toledo and president of Toledo City Council, Toledo, Ohio.

1973

Appointed president of Savage & Associates, Inc. Toledo’s dominant investment and financial planning organization. Served 28 years.

1981

Elected and served six years as president Board of Directors of St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

1984

Receive the Hospital Planning Distinguished Service award from Toledo Chamber of Commerce.

1988

Appointed to the board of trustees of the University of Toledo, served 11-and-a-half years.

1988

Served as a member of the board of trustees of the “Committee of 100” of the City of Toledo.

1990

Is on Board of Directors of 3 corporations listed on the NY Stock Exchange: Centerior Energy, Cedar Fair, FirstEnergy, through 1997.

Becomes Chairman Emeritus of Savage & Associates, Inc.

Received the Gold T Award, given to University of Toledo, top alumni.

2010

Received the College of Business Administration and Innovation Pacemaker Award.

2013

Received honorary doctorate from the University of Toledo, his alma mater.

2017

He and wife, Sue, receive the Outstanding Philanthropists Award from the Northwestern Ohio Chapter of the (AFP).

2017
