Dr. Hankinson marries Lyla Lee Pollard Hankinson and becomes a commissioned reserve officer in the U.S. Army.

Dr. Hankinson receives a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology), where he becomes an instructor of chemical engineering.

1962

Dr. Hankinson receives a Master of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla.

1964

Dr. Hankinson becomes an instructor of chemical engineering at Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

1967

Dr. Hankinson receives a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering and statistics from Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

1967

Dr. Hankinson becomes an engineer for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

1969

Dr. Hankinson becomes a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and receives an honorable discharge.
