Mr. Vie is born in St. Louis, Missouri.

1950

Mr. Vie marries Joan Wilschetz Vie.

1958

Mr. Vie joins the U.S. Navy, rising in the ranks to lieutenant.

1962

Mr. Vie becomes an affiliate of Reliable Life Insurance Company.

1979

Mr. Vie becomes president of Commonwealth Annuity and Life Insurance Company.

1983

Mr. Vie joins the board of directors and becomes chairman, president, and chief executive officer of United Insurance Company.

1985

Mr. Vie joins the board of directors of the Concordia University Foundation at Concordia University.

1990

Mr. Vie joins the board of directors and becomes senior vice president of Unitrin, Inc. (now Kemper Corporation), a subsidiary of Teledyne, Inc.

1992

Mr. Vie is promoted to president and chief executive officer of Unitrin, Inc.

1994

Mr. Vie serves as chairman of the Life Insurance Conference.

1995

Mr. Vie joins the board of directors of Valparaiso University.

1999

Mr. Vie becomes chairman of Unitrin, Inc.

2005

Mr. Vie is named chairman emeritus of Unitrin, Inc.

2009

Mr. Vie retires from his profession and becomes an affiliate of the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C.

2010

Mr. Vie is appointed chairman of the U.S. Navy Memorial. He also serves as chairman of the Chicago Executive Club and chairman and co-founder of Military Outreach USA.

2017

Mr. Vie is appointed director of the National Museum of the American Sailor Foundation.

2017

Mr. Vie is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and is named a Distinguished Humanitarian by Marquis Who’s Who.
