Born to Charles Edwin Brighton and Ruth Cleo (Dawson) Brighton in Tulsa, OK.

1969

Earns a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Colorado.

1976

Works as a neurosurgical neurological nurse specialist of a 500 bed hospital through 1985.

1976

Works as the unit manager of specialty surgical units through 1985.

1984

Earns a Master of Science in health care services administration from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, IL.

1984

Serves as a hospital administrator for a rural mountain hospital with 20 beds through 1985.

1985

Serves as the associate director of outpatient services through 1988.

1985

In the aforementioned role, she is one of six to build, equip and staff one of the first hospitals without beds in the US.

1989

Serves as the vice president of US Nursing through 1991; develops the Travel Nurse company.

The aforementioned company specializes in putting nurses to work in strike situations on an exclusive contract basis she procured.
