Ms. Hayes receives a Bachelor of Arts in music from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

Ms. Hayes becomes the director of music at Clendenin High School in Charleston, West Virginia.

1957

Ms. Hayes becomes the director of music at Shelton Park Elementary School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

1958

Ms. Hayes becomes the director of music at Suburban Park Elementary School and Campostella Heights Elementary in Norfolk, Virginia.

1959

Ms. Hayes marries Raymond S. Hayes, Jr. and becomes the director of music at Bayview Elementary School in Norfolk, Virginia.

1970

Ms. Hayes receives a Master of Science in special education from Old Dominion University.

1970

Ms. Hayes becomes a teacher of music and special education at Mount Zion Elementary School on Suffolk, Virginia.

1972

Ms. Hayes becomes the director of music at Meadowbrooke & Lakeview Elementary in Norfolk, Virginia.

1973

Ms. Hayes becomes the director of choral and orchestra at Portsmouth City Schools in Virginia.

Ms. Hayes receives the Proclamation Award from the Fine Arts Commission in Chesapeake, Virginia.
