Dr. Feit is born in Easton, Pennsylvania to Joel E. and Kathryn T. Feit.
1964
Dr. Feit graduates from Lehigh University with honors and special honors, receiving a Bachelor of Art in physics.
1964
Dr. Feit begins his career as a research and teaching assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
1969
Dr. Feit receives a Doctor of Philosophy in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and becomes a research associate in the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois.
1972
Dr. Feit becomes a physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
1982
Dr. Feit joins the physics committee of the Associateship Program at the National Research Council.
1984
Dr. Feit joins the adjunct faculty in the Department of Applied Science at the University of California, Davis.
1987
Dr. Feit joins the organizing committee of the International Conference on the Physics of Chaos and Systems Far from Equilibrium and becomes a research project leader with the Undergraduate Summer Institute at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
1988
Dr. Feit becomes a fellow of the American Physical Society.
1990
Dr Feit receives the Physics Distinguished Achievement Award from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Dr. Feit is appointed leader of the Optical Physics Group, Physics and Space Technology and serves as co-director of the Summer School on Chaos in Physical Systems at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Dr. Feit becomes a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.

Dr. Feit is appointed as a leader for Theoretical Optics, Short Pulse Lasers, Applications and Technology at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Dr. Feit is appointed leader of the Laser Damage Modeling Group in the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and serves as the associate editor of OSA Optics Express.

Dr. Feit serves as the scientific editor of Internal Confinement Fusion Quarterly.

Dr. Feit is named an honoree of the Most Cited Article by the Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids.

Dr. Feit becomes a Senior Member of the Optical Society of America.
