Born to Levert Hedgemon, Sr. and Rosia B. Irby Hedgemon in Tuscaloosa, AL.

1979

Teaches language arts, humanities and music at Westlawn Middle School of the Tuscaloosa City Schools until his retirement.

1995

Earns a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and management from Stillman College.

1998

Becomes a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Inc.

1998

Teaches choral music as a private music teacher and continues in the role.

1998

Is inducted into the Jacksonville State Teachers Hall of Fame.

2001

Is the minister of music at Weeping Mary Baptist Church and continues in the role.

2013

Provides opportunities for his students to perform at the second inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.

2014

Is named Alabama Teacher of the Year.

2021

Continues to serve as a volunteer counselor to the Alabama Baptist Crusaders.

2021

Continues to hold the Martin Luther King Jr. Education Award from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
