Dr. King is born in Glencoe, Illinois to William J. and June Kerler.

1947

Dr. King receives a Bachelor of Arts in classical languages from Knox College.

1952

Dr. King receives a Master of Arts in Latin from the University of Wisconsin.

1952

Dr. King marries Edward L. King.

1968

Dr. King becomes an associate professor of classics at the University of Colorado.

1969

Dr. King receives a Doctor of Philosophy in classics from the University of Colorado.

1974

Dr. King receives the Student-Alumni Teaching Award from the University of Colorado.

1979

Dr. King serves as editor of “Colorado Classics: A Newsletter.”

1982

Dr. King is appointed Classics Department chairman at the University of Colorado.

1983

Dr. King serves as co-chair of the Women’s Classical Caucus of the American Philological Association.

1990

Dr. King is appointed chair of the American Philological Association Committee on the Status of Women and Minority Groups.

1991

Dr. King becomes Professor Emerita at the University of Colorado.

1991

Dr. King receives the University of Colorado Service Award.

Dr. King is awarded by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
