1939

Dr. Del Bene is born in Youngstown, Ohio to Anthony Joseph and Elizabeth Josephine Del Bene.

1963

Dr. Del Bene receives a Bachelor of Science in education from Youngstown State University.

1965

Dr. Del Bene receives a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Youngstown State University.

1968

Dr. Del Bene receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Cincinnati.

1968

Dr. Del Bene becomes a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

1969

Dr. Del Bene becomes a postdoctoral fellow at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

1970

Dr. Del Bene becomes an assistant professor at Youngstown State University.

1971

Dr. Del Bene receives the first of many research grants.

1973

Dr. Del Bene is promoted to associate professor at Youngstown State University.

1976

Dr. Del Bene is promoted to full professor of chemistry at Youngstown State University.

1977

Dr. Del Bene serves as a consultant for basic medical sciences at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine.

1986

Dr. Del Bene becomes a founding member of the Users Group of the Ohio Supercomputer Center.

1995

Dr. Del Bene serves as a consultant for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

1999

Dr. Del Bene becomes Professor Emerita at Youngstown State University.

1999

Dr. Del Bene is a visiting professor of chemistry in the Quantum Theory Project at the University of Florida.

1999

Dr. Del Bene is a visiting professor at the University of Sydney. She returns to this position in 2000 and 2004.

2002

Dr. Del Bene is a visiting fellow of the BBVA Foundation at the University of Madrid.

2003

Dr. Del Bene receives the Heritage Award from Youngstown State University.

2008

Dr. Del Bene receives the Morley Medal from the Cleveland Section of the American Chemical Society.

2009

Dr. Del Bene receives an honorary Doctor of Science from Youngstown State University.
