Mr. Sampson is born in Edmore, North Dakota to Silas Abner and Mabel Elizabeth Sampson.

1950

Mr. Sampson receives a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College.

1952

Mr. Sampson receives a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa.

1954

Mr. Sampson joins the U.S. Army.

1954

Mr. Sampson has a one man show at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

1956

Mr. Sampson studies postgraduate courses at the University of Iowa.

1959

Mr. Sampson becomes a Fulbright Fellow.

1961

Mr. Sampson becomes an acting assistant professor of fine arts at the University of Colorado.

1968

Mr. Sampson is promoted to associate professor of fine arts at the University of Colorado.

1972

Mr. Sampson is promoted to full professor of fine arts at the University of Colorado.

1975

Mr. Sampson has a one man show at the Denver Art Museum.

1990

Mr. Sampson earns the title of Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado.
