Born to parents Jacob and Bonnie Neff in Detroit, MI.

1964

Earns a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Michigan.

1966

Achieves a Master of Arts in mathematics from the University of Michigan.

1967

Attains a Master of Science in physics from the University of Michigan.

1968

Is a research assistant at the Cyclotron Laboratory and a teaching fellow in physics at the University of Michigan through 1973.

1974

Marries Bonita Jean Dostal.

1976

Is a science instructor at Lansing Community College until 1982.

1982

Obtains a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Michigan State University.

1982

Is a guest lecturer, assistant and associate professor and full professor at Purdue University Northwest through 2017.

1986

Serves on the board of directors for chapter 112 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) until 2011.

1989

Becomes a Certified Manufacturing Technologist.

1990

Receives an Appreciation Award from the SME.

1991

Receives an Outstanding Faculty Adviser Award from the SME.

1992

Receives an Appreciation Award from the SME; Becomes a Certified Manufacturing Engineer.

1993

Is registered as a professional engineer by the state of Indiana.

1994

Receives a Merl K. Miller Award from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

2001

Serves as the chairman of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

2013

Receives an Arthur and Kathryn Award for excellence in ballroom dancing and an Appreciation Award from the ASEE.

2017

Is granted emeritus status and commences his retirement.
