Dr. Guymon is born in Farmington, New Mexico to Leland W. and Grace E. Guymon.

1955

Dr. Guymon becomes an engineer for the California Department of Water Resources in Los Angeles.

1966

Dr. Guymon receives a Bachelor of Science from the University of California Davis.

1967

Dr. Guymon receives a Master of Science from the University of California Davis.

1969

Dr. Guymon becomes an assistant research engineer at the University of California Davis.

1970

Dr. Guymon receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California Davis.

1971

Dr. Guymon becomes an associate professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

1974

Dr. Guymon becomes a full professor at the University of California Irvine.

1981

Dr. Guymon co-authors “Results from a Mechanical Model of Frost Heave” published in the Transportation Research Record journal.

1981

Dr. Guymon serves as associate editor of the Advances in Water Resources journal.

1984

Dr. Guymon is appointed chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of California Irvine.
