Mr. Schurz is born in South Bend, Indiana to Franklin Dunn Schurz, Sr. and Martha Schurz.

1952

Mr. Schurz receives a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University.

1952

Mr. Schurz joins the U.S. Army Reserves Artillery, rising through the grades from Second Lieutenant to Captain.

1956

Mr. Schurz receives a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.

1956

Mr. Schurz becomes an executive assistant at the South Bend Tribune.

1960

Mr. Schurz becomes an assistant publisher at the Morning Herald and Daily Mail in Hagerstown, Maryland.

1962

Mr. Schurz is promoted to publisher at the Morning Herald and Daily Mail.

1965

Mr. Schurz receives the Presidential Award of Merit from the National Newspaper Association.

1966

Mr. Schurz becomes editor at the Morning Herald and Daily Mail.

1971

Mr. Schurz is appointed director and associate publisher of the South Bend Tribune.

1972

Mr. Schurz is promoted to editor and publisher of the South Bend Tribune.

Mr. Schurz is appointed president of the South Bend Tribune.

Mr. Schurz becomes chairman of the Audit Committee of the Associated Press.

Mr. Schurz receives the Frank Rogers Award from the Rotary Club in South Bend, Indiana.

Mr. Schurz completes the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
