Ms. Burwell serves as a first and second grade teacher for Newark Public School in New Jersey.

Ms. Burwell becomes a first grade teacher for Rockaway Township Public Schools in New Jersey.

Ms. Burwell is named Teacher of the Year by Rockaway Township Schools.

Ms. Burwell serves on the scholarship committee of the Pi Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for one year.
