Dr. Cox is born in Ord, Nebraska to George Harvey Cox and Muriel Jane Bartz.

1965

Dr. Cox receives a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nebraska.

1965

Dr. Cox becomes a vocal music instructor at Superior High School in Superior, Nebraska.

1967

Dr. Cox becomes a vocal music instructor at Casey Junior High School in Boulder, Colorado.

1968

Dr. Cox becomes an assistant professor of music at Salem University in West Virginia.

1969

Dr. Cox receives a Master of Music from the University of Colorado.

1974

Dr. Cox receives a Master of Arts from West Virginia University.

1974

Dr. Cox receives the Outstanding Educators of America Award.

1978

Dr. Cox receives a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.

1978

Dr. Cox becomes a professor of music and, later, the graduate coordinator at the University of Maine.

1992

Dr. Cox marries Elizabeth Anne Downing.

2000

Dr. Cox receives the Vincent Hartgen Award from the University of Maine Patrons of the Arts.

2001

Dr. Cox receives the Black Bear Award from the University of Maine Alumni Association.

2011

Dr. Cox receives the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Nebraska.

2014

Dr. Cox is named Professor Emeritus.
