Dr. Benzies is born in Chicago, Illinois to Roy Benzies and Margaret Lucille Benzies-Sorensen.

1965

Dr. Benzies receives a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.

1966

Dr. Benzies becomes a statistician at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute.

1968

Dr. Benzies receives the Superior Performance Award from the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute.

1971

Dr. Benzies receives a Master of Science in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

1977

Dr. Benzies serves as a psychology instructor at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois.

1979

Dr. Benzies co-publishes “The Time Questionnaire,” a psychological test.

1980

Dr. Benzies receives a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

1982

Dr. Benzies becomes a licensed clinical psychologist through the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

1983

Dr. Benzies becomes a psychologist at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois.

Dr. Benzies is selected to be a member of the JCAHO National Task Force on Depressive Disorders (core group and full task force).

Dr. Benzies serves as a psychology instructor at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Dr. Benzies is appointed director of psychology for Community Psychiatric Services at Elgin Mental Health Center.
