Dr. Benzies is born in Chicago, Illinois to Roy Benzies and Margaret Lucille Benzies-Sorensen.

Dr. Benzies receives a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Dr. Benzies becomes a statistician at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute.
1968
Dr. Benzies receives the Superior Performance Award from the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute.
1971
Dr. Benzies receives a Master of Science in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
1977
Dr. Benzies serves as a psychology instructor at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois.

Dr. Benzies co-publishes “The Time Questionnaire,” a psychological test to assess suicide potential.

Dr. Benzies receives a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
