Becomes an intern and then resident at Yale New Haven Hospital.

1953

Becomes a resident and fellow of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

1956

Becomes chief cardiologist and associate chief of staff for the Research VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

1961

Serves as visiting scientist at Oxford University in England.

1962

Becomes an associate and then full professor of medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
