1945
Dr. Castriotta is born in Winchester, Massachusetts to Louis and Mary Castriotta.
1967
Dr. Castriotta receives a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross and becomes a research assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
1974
Dr. Castriotta receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Bologna in Italy and becomes a medical resident at Hospital St. Raphael (now Yale New Haven Health) in New Haven, Connecticut.
1978
Dr. Castriotta is certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and becoming a pulmonary fellow at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut.
1980
Dr. Castriotta is certified in pulmonary disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
1981
Dr. Castriotta becomes an assistant professor of medicine and pathology at the School of Medicine at the University of Connecticut. He is also appointed director of pulmonary medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital (now Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center) in Hartford, Connecticut.
1983
Dr. Castriotta marries Laura Gillespie and is appointed director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.
1991
Dr. Castriotta is promoted assistant chief of medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.
1992
Dr. Castriotta is promoted to associate professor of clinical medicine at the School of Medicine.
1995
Dr. Castriotta becomes an associate professor of internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas. He is also appointed medical director of the Memorial Hermann Hospital Sleep Disorders Center in Houston Texas.
1996
Dr. Castriotta serves on the medical advisory committee of BlueCross BlueShield of Texas.
2002
Dr. Castriotta is promoted to full professor of internal medicine at the McGovern Medical School.
2003
Dr. Castriotta is appointed president of the Southern Sleep Society.
2004
Dr. Castriotta is appointed director of the pulmonary division at McGovern Medical School.
2006
Dr. Castriotta chairs the Sleep Network at the American College of Chest Physicians.
2007
Dr. Castriotta is certified as a diplomate in sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
2010
Dr. Castriotta chairs the Interfaculty Council at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
2014
Dr. Castriotta chairs the Palliative and End of Life Care Network at the American College of Chest Physicians.
2016
Dr. Castriotta is named the Top Pulmonologist in Houston.
2018
Dr. Castriotta is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
