1953

Earns a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.

1954

Earns a Master of Arts from Wesleyan University.

1957

Earns a Doctor of Philosophy from Stanford University.

1970

Becomes a postdoctoral fellow within the Medical Research Council of the Applied Psychology Unit at Cambridge, England, through 1971.

1970

Becomes a psychology and visual science professor at the University of Rochester.

1974

Marries Lyn R. Roland.

1977

Receives the Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Michigan.

1979

Becomes a psychology professor at the University of Illinois through 1991.

1981

Teaches as a visiting professor at the Air Force Human Resources Laboratory at Williams AFB in Arizona through 1983.

1988

Becomes a partner at Human Factors Consultant in Swall Meadows, CA.

1990
