Dr. Kimbler is born in Whitman, West Virginia to Delbert and Jewell Kimbler.
1966
Dr. Kimbler serves in the U.S. Army on active duty for four years before being honorably discharged.
1969
Dr. Kimbler receives an Army Commendation Medal.
1976
Dr. Kimbler receives a Bachelor of Science in engineering with distinction from the University of South Florida.
1980
Over the next 23 years, Dr. Kimbler receives grants from 19 different sponsors.
1980
Dr. Kimbler receives a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering and operations research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Dr. Kimbler becomes an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Management System Engineering at the University of South Florida.
1984
Dr. Kimbler is promoted to associate professor at the University of South Florida.
1986
Dr. Kimbler becomes an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University.
1988
Dr. Kimbler receives the Manufacturing System Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
1989
Dr. Kimbler is appointed acting Head of Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University.
1990
Dr. Kimbler is promoted to full professor at Clemson University.
1992
Dr. Kimbler is named Engineering Educator of the Year by the Piedmont chapter of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers.
1995
Dr. Kimbler is appointed Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University.
2000
Dr. Kimbler resumes his position as professor of industrial engineering.

Dr. Kimbler is named a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
