1933

Dr. Hu is born in Sichuan, China to T.C. and P.S. Hu.

1955

Dr. Hu receives a Bachelor of Science from National Taiwan University.

1957

Dr. Hu immigrates to the United States.

1962

Dr. Hu receives a Doctor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

1962

Dr. Hu becomes a research associate at St. John’s University.

1963

Dr. Hu becomes an assistant professor of physics at California State University, Long Beach.

1965

Dr. Hu becomes a summer fellow of the National Science Foundation and receives the first of several grants from the California State University Long Beach Foundation.

1968

Dr. Hu is promoted to associate professor at California State University, Long Beach.

1969

Dr. Hu receives the first of several grants from the National Science Foundation.

1972

Dr. Hu is promoted to full professor at California State University, Long Beach.

1974

Dr. Hu becomes a naturalized U.S. citizen.

1986

Dr. Hu receives a grant from the Department of Energy and several grants from the National Science Foundation.

1988

Dr. Hu serves as a National Science Foundation visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.

2006

Dr. Hu is named Professor Emeritus at California State University, Long Beach.

2017

Dr. Hu is named a Distinguished Humanitarian by Marquis Who’s Who.

2018

Dr. Hu is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
