Dr. Davis is born in Chicago, Illinois to Paul Albert and Maxine Lydia Davis.

Dr. Davis graduates magna cum laude from Westminster College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts.
1962
Dr. Davis marries Faith Ainsworth Baker.
1963
Dr. Davis graduates cum laude from Harvard University, receives a Doctor of Medicine.
1963
Dr. Davis begins a medical internship at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (now NYC Health + Hospital/Jacobi).
1964
Dr. Davis begins a residency in medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.

Dr. Davis becomes a clinical associate at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Davis becomes a senior staff associate at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Davis is appointed head of the Endocrinology Division of Baltimore City Hospitals.

Dr. Davis is appointed head of the Endocrinology Division and becomes a professor of medicine at the University at Buffalo.

Dr. Davis is appointed chief of medical service at the VA Western New York Healthcare System of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dr. Davis is appointed chairman of the Department of Medicine and becomes a professor at the Albany Medical Center of Albany Medical College.

Dr. Davis is appointed president of the American Thyroid Association.

Dr. Davis is appointed senior associate dean for clinical research at Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Davis is appointed director of the Ordway Research Institute in Albany, New York.
